TWG - Technical Working Group

 

The Technical Working Group (TWG) is established depending of the Operational Coordination Committee (OCC) and is responsible for proposing activities or plans towards harmonized and interoperable technical systems for the provision of air traffic management, communication, navigation, surveillance and meteorological services by the civil and military air navigation service providers, providing high level of safety operations and making optimal use of technical resources.

 

The TWG shall be composed by:

 

  • One (1) representative of the en-route ATS provider of each Contracting State;
  • One (1) representative of METEO designated by each Contracting State; and
  • One (1) military representative designated by each Contracting State.

 

The following task, but not limited to, are responsibility of the TWG:

 

  • To propose activities or plans  towards harmonized and interoperable technical systems for the provision of air traffic management systems, communication, navigation, surveillance and meteorological services by the civil and military air navigation service providers, providing high level of safety operations and making optimal use of technical resources;
  • Ensure technical coordination (between ANSPs of the SW FAB, as well as between SW FAB ANSP(s) and ANSP(s) of neighboring States), including the elaboration of technical written agreements of relevance for the provision of ANS and Operational Air Traffic Transit Service (OATTS);
  • Cooperation at technical level for the efficient and consistent application of the concept of FUA preparing setting up common agreements and harmonized procedures;
  • To support the NM in technical cooperative decision-making (CDM) processes;
  • To propose and/or consider new technologies to support the introduction of new operational concepts;
  • To make proposals to ensure, over common areas, the technical contribution of the FAB Performance Plan;
  • To harmonized meteorological information en route between METEO Service Providers;
  • To cooperate in METEO areas that will be identified;
  • Support other SW FAB working groups in areas identified of common interest;
  • Additional task assigned by the OB/OCC or identified and approved by the AWG during the development of assigned tasks;
  • Preparing conclusions and recommendations to the Operational Coordination Committee and, as appropriate, to the representatives in high-level groups or any other fora at SW FAB Operational Board level.
